Uncertain birth times: what you can read
Keep useful sign information while leaving out claims that need a precise clock.
हिंदी में पढ़ेंOur worked examples use fictional Aarav Sharma: 15 August 1991, 06:40, Jaipur, India. Vedic examples use Lahiri sidereal and whole-sign houses. Western examples use the tropical zodiac. The dated report sample is from 30 September 2026.
A remembered estimate is not an exact time
“Around sunrise” and a recorded clock time have different precision. With an approximate or unknown time, our birth tools examine the possible local birth day, retaining any Moon-sign or nakshatra alternatives. They leave out the ascendant, precise houses and other time-sensitive results.
Remove the clock from Aarav’s example
The fictional sample uses 06:40 in Jaipur and has Leo rising in the Vedic chart. If all we knew were 15 August 1991 in Jaipur, we could not keep that Leo ascendant or the Moon’s house 3 simply by substituting noon. The Moon can move across signs or nakshatra boundaries during a day.
Even with the sample clock, Aarav’s tropical rising point is close to the Virgo boundary. A few minutes matter here. Record the confidence you actually have and confirm the birthplace and historical time zone.
A useful next step
Ask for a birth record if one is available, but do not invent a time to unlock extra detail. Start with the Moon tool and its alternatives. Read a report sample before choosing a paid report, and check whether it depends on an exact time. More pages cannot recover a missing fact.
