How the numbers are calculated

Indian numerology uses three numbers from your birth date and name. Each is reduced to a single digit by adding its digits.

Moolank (root number)

The day of birth, reduced: born on the 27th gives 2 + 7 = 9.

Bhagyank (destiny number)

Every digit of the full date added together, then reduced.

Name number

Chaldean values for each letter (1 to 8; no letter is 9), added for the whole name. The compound total is shown, and its reduced digit.

Worked example: fictional Asha Verma, born 27-09-2004

Each step is the same arithmetic the calculator runs.

NumberWorkingResult
Moolank2 + 7 = 99
Bhagyank2+7 + 0+9 + 2+0+0+4 = 246
Name number28 → 11

Moolank 9, Bhagyank 6, name number 1.

Numerology is a traditional practice for reflection. It is not a basis for financial, medical or legal decisions.

Good to know

About numerology.

What are Moolank and Bhagyank?

Moolank comes from the day you were born and describes how you meet the world. Bhagyank comes from your full birth date and describes where life leads you.

Which letter values do you use?

The Chaldean values most Indian numerologists use. Other systems give different name numbers, so the name number can differ between websites.

Should I change the spelling of my name?

We do not suggest name changes. Numerology is a tradition for reflection; your name is yours.

Do I need my birth time?

No. Numerology uses only your name and date of birth, and everything is worked out in your browser.
