How Sade Sati dates are calculated
Sade Sati is Saturn’s transit through the 12th, 1st and 2nd signs from your Moon sign. Saturn spends about two and a half years in each, so the whole period lasts about seven and a half years.
The three phases
Rising: Saturn in the sign before your Moon. Peak: Saturn over your Moon sign. Setting: Saturn in the sign after it. Dates come from Saturn’s actual sign changes, not fixed 2½-year blocks.
Dhaiya
Saturn in the 4th (Kantaka) or 8th (Ashtama) sign from the Moon is called Dhaiya, a separate period of about two and a half years.
Retrograde returns
Saturn can move back into the previous sign for a few months. The calculator keeps those returns inside the same period, so the end date is the final exit.
