Good to know
A little clarity.
What is a Moon sign (Rashi)?
In Vedic astrology your Rashi is the zodiac sign the Moon occupied at birth. Many Indian families use it for naming, horoscopes and matching, more often than the Sun sign.
What is a nakshatra?
The zodiac is also divided into 27 lunar mansions called nakshatras, each 13°20′ wide and split into four padas. Your birth nakshatra is where the Moon was among them.
Why do I get two answers?
The Moon moves about 13° a day. Without an exact time, it may have changed sign or nakshatra during your birth date, so we show every possibility rather than guessing.
Why is my Western sign different?
Western astrology uses the tropical zodiac, tied to the seasons. Vedic astrology uses the sidereal zodiac, tied to the stars. The two currently differ by about 24°.
