Good to know
A little clarity.
What is synastry?
Synastry compares two Western birth charts: the aspects one person’s planets make to the other’s, how each chart’s elements balance, and where one person’s planets fall in the other’s houses. It is the Western counterpart of Vedic kundli matching.
How is the score worked out?
Half comes from harmony (flowing and blending contacts against testing ones), 30% from strength (how many close contacts there are) and 20% from how alike your element mix is. Every part is shown with the result, so you can see exactly why the number is what it is.
Do we need birth times?
No, but they help. Without an exact time the Moon, Ascendant and house overlays are left out for that person, because they depend on the time.
Is this the same as Vedic kundli matching?
No. Kundli matching uses the sidereal Moon and the 36-guna system. Synastry uses the tropical zodiac and all the planets. Both are free on iAstroGuru, and the two can give different pictures.
